MVCA hosted a round table with Antoine Drean, CEO and founder of Mantra Investissement SCA (Paris), on 23 June in the Automobile Club of Monaco.

Mantra is an active investor in listed private equity vehicles. As such, Mantra identifies mispriced entities in this very specific space, invests in some of them and builds shareholder value by proposing or imposing some changes. Mantra has US$ 100 milion in equity and a much larger co-investment power.

Antoine Drean was happy to share with MVCA members his vision on the future of private equity and to discuss the "opportunities emerging from the crisis".

 

MVCA hosted a breakfast conference on June 3 with guest speaker Dr. Abdul Rahman Tolefat from Allianz Takaful, Barhain.

Dr. Tolefat's previous positions includes Head of Islamic Banking Supervision and Head of Strategic Development, both with the Central Bank of Bahrain.  He holds a PhD from Durham University where he specialized in Islamic finance and insurance.

MVCA hosted a Lunch Conference with guest speaker Dr. Gideon Tolkowsky from BME Capital Management Ltd, Israel on Thursday 28 May.

Dr. Tolkowsky has over 25 years of venture capital experience in the United States and Israel, being one of the founders of Israeli venture capital.  The main fund he co-founded and co-managed, whose capital originated primarily from Anglo American Corporation and De Beers, achieved an IRR of 84% throughout its life.

On Monday 20 April MVCA was honored to welcome Jean-Luc Allavena, former Chief of staff of H.S.H Prince Albert II, now partner with the renowned private equity firm Apollo Management.

Apollo's investing platform consists of equity funds (public and private), credit funds (senior, mezzanine and distressed) and recently expanded into commodities and real estate.

In the presence of the recently appointed Minister of Finance and Economy, Mrs. Sophie Thevenoux and the Director of the Treasury, Mrs. Isabelle Rosabrunetto, MVCA was happy and honored to welcome Mr. Franck Biancheri, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Interntional Finance, as guest speaker at a round table on 10 March.

Mr. Biancheri shared his views on the development of economic and finance related activities in the Principality.
